January 29, 2014 – BUFFALO COUNTY, Wis. — A man was arrested and faces several sexual assault charges after police officials say he admitted to having sexual relations with multiple underage girls.
Herman Nissley, 51-year-old, of Mondovi is charged with four counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.
Herman stood up during a church service, and admitted he had sexual interactions with several underage girls. Herman told investigators the assaults happened around eight years ago. The criminal complaint says he inappropriately touched one girl, and exposed himself to several others. If convicted Herman Nissley, could face up to 200 years in prison.
Walhalla – January 2014 – James Smith, 39 years-of-age was sentenced on January 22, 2014 to three years of probation after he pleaded guilty to assault charges. James Smith was a former church youth director of Ebenezer Baptist Church. According to authorities, James Smith has been been charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor. James Smith was ordered by the court to undergo counseling and register as a sex offender. James Smith pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and battery.
January 2, 2014 – Eureka Police Department reported that Rev. Eric Freed a Catholic priest who was found dead in a church rectory on New Year’s Day. Gary Lee Bullock of Redway was taken into custody on Thursday by Humboldt County deputies in the killing of the Rev. Eric Freed. Freed’s body was discovered Wednesday morning after he failed to show up for the 9 a.m. Mass. The Eureka Police Department revealed there was forced entry at the rectory and that a violent struggle ensued. While a cause of death has yet to be determined, police said it appears Freed was the victim of blunt force trauma. Please join us is praying for the family of Rev. Eric Freed.
27 September 2013 – LAKE CHARLES, LA – Sheriff’s Office reports that a pastor was shot and killed while preaching Friday night in Calcasieu.
Sheriff’s office said 53-year-old Woodrow Karey, of Lake Charles, is accused of walking into the church and shooting Pastor Ronald J.Harris Sr. as he was preaching during a revival. Sheriff office says that Pastor Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. Karey, surrendered to law enforcement officials and has been charged with second degree murder. No motive has been determined. Karey was armed with a shotgun and .22 caliber handgun. Law enforcement officials have recovered both weapons. Please join us in praying for the family of Pastor Harris, Sr and Woodrow Karey.
Sept 22, 2013 – PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) – A pair of suicide bombers blew themselves up amid hundreds of worshippers at a historic church in northwestern Pakistan on Sunday, killing 78 people and wounding 141 women and children in the deadliest-ever attack against the country’s Christian minority.
18 September – 2013 – SOUTH BEND, Ind.– Police officials reported that a gunman wearing a mask entered a South Bend church Wednesday Evening and shot two bullets at a church member working inside. Sunday Kingdom Christian Center in South Bend. According to officials, the church message was focused on spiritual warfare and advocacy against gun violence. No injuries were sustained during the incident. No arrest have been made at the time of this posting.
August 20, 2013 – Chicago- Three men in a white vehicle fired gunshots at a group of people on the steps of the Uptown Baptist Church, Monday evening. Witnesses told police that one gunman fired as many as 20 shots from the vehicle. Police say that the shooting was gang related. Three of the people who were shot were listed from stable to critical condition. One person received minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital and one of the persons shot was in critical condition and on life support, and was not expected to survive. July 23, 2013: The lawsuits were filed against Richard Hokanson, the troop leader; St. Pius X Catholic Church, which sponsored the troop; the Boy Scouts of America; and Gamehaven Council, a branch of the Scouts in southeastern Minnesota. The civil lawsuits were filed on behalf of two former Rochester residents who allege they were abused by a Boy Scout leader in the 1970s. Hokanson admitted to law enforcement officials in 1982 that he’d had sexual contact with 21 children who were participating in Scouting. Hokanson was sentenced to a 42-month stayed prison term in exchange for treatment in the intensive sexual abuse program at St. Peter. Upon completion of his treatment, Hokanson was imprisoned for 40 months on a 1994 child sex-abuse conviction.
July 22, 2013: NORWOOD, Mo. – Earnest J. Smith, 48- years-of-age was arrested today and faces five separate felony charges after Police say he fired two shots inside the Norwood First Baptist Church during Sunday morning services.
Earnest Smith is being held in the Wright County Jail on $250,000 cash only bond. Prosecutors have charged Smith with first-degree assault, shooting a firearm from a building, unlawful use of a weapon, making a terrorist threat and armed criminal action. According to authorities, Earnest Smith had made previous threats in the past to kill the pastor and members of the church. People attending the church at the time had tackled Smith and held him until deputies could arrive. Thank God for courages church members who take safety and security seriously!

July 12, 2013: ORANGEBURG, SC – Police report that they arrested Blake Hiscox 56-years-of-age today and charged him with 45 counts of vandalizing 17 area churches over five years.
According to Police, the arrest was made after a video camera recorded a man throwing rocks at a downtown church. Blake Hiscox could be sentenced up to 10 years on each count if convicted.
