May 3, 2012 – ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - Rev. Mary-Marguerite Kohn, co-rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, and Brenda Brewington, were killed on May 3, 2012 by a homeless man, after he was apparently turned away from the church’s food bank. The homeless man identified by authorities as Douglas Jones, was found dead in the woods nearby the church by self inflected gun shot wounds.

The five-person selection committee first reviews those who have been nominated to make sure the supporting documentation makes the proposed recipient eligible. The committee will then add the list of acceptable candidates into the pool of qualified candidates for consideration. First Baptist Christian School was selected out of a pool of 26 candidates. First Baptist Christian School is the first recipient of this award in the State of Georgia. Congratulations!

Pastor’s Mother Shot & Killed

April 22, 2012 – Aurora – Police say the mother of Pastor De Lono Straham, Destiny Christian Center, was shot and killed Sunday afternoon at the end of the worship service.

The Police say the shooting suspect and the pastor’s mother were shot and taken to a local hospital where they both died. The suspect was shot by an off-duty Denver Police officer who was a member of the church and is the pastor’s cousin. Police currently have no motive for the shooting.

Gunman kills 7 and wounds 3 others at Christian University……

April 2, 2012 – OAKLAND, CALIF – Former nursing student 43-year-old One L. Goh killed 7 and wounded 3 others at Oikos University a small Christian college on Monday morning, seemingly without discrimination. According to authorities there were about 35 students inside the college at the time. Goh was arrested about two hours after the shooting in front of a Safeway supermarket in an Alameda shopping center a few miles away from the University.

Toddler believed to have drowned in baptismal font

February 23, 2012 – Indianapolis – A toddler dead after being found submerged in a baptismal font at the Praise Fellowship Assembly of God church in northwest Indianapolis according to officials. The toddler was identified as Juan Cardenas and was taken to the St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, where he died. Juan attended a daycare center at the church according to police officials. It is believed that the boy drowned, however the official case of death has not been released pending an autopsy. Please pray for the family of Juan Cardenas!

Pastor’s daughter shot at Florida church dies

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – February 18, 2012 – Authorities say a pastor’s daughter who was accidentally shot in the head in a Florida church has died.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Hannah Kelley died Saturday in the hospital. An autopsy is pending.

Feb 14, 2012 – St. Petersburg, Fla – Authorities say that the daughter of a pastor who was shot in the head while at church was accidental. Police say that Moises Zambrana was showing his gun to another member of the church in a small closet when the gun reportedly fired going through a wall injuring the pastor daughter Hannah Kelley. Authorities report that Hannah was transported to the hospital where she is still in critical condition. Police said that Zambrana had a permit to carry a concealed weapon and no charges have been filed. Please lift up Hannah Kelly, her family and Moises Zambrana in prayer. Pray for Hannah’s quick and full recovery!

Northstar Chruch Volunteer Arrested for Child Molestation

Feb 14 -2012 – Cobb Country police reported that they have arrested a man allegedly sexually assaulting children from Northstar Church. Officials reported that between Acworth Police Department and Cobb County Police Department they have discovered a total of three juveniles were victimized in a private residence. Rev. Mike Linch, Senior Pastor at Northstar Church released a statement that after being made aware of the situation, immediate steps were taken. Please keep Northstar Church, the victims and their families in your prayers!

Arson suspect hated Jews….

On January 25, 2012, the Jewish Standard reported that the police had arrested Anthony M. Graziano, for tossing incendiary devices made out of empty raspberry Crush soda bottles, motor oil and duct tape, at synagogues. Police reported that two synagogues, Congregation K’hal Adath Jeshurun in Paramus, and Congregation Beth El in Rutherford were targeted by Graziano.

The Jewish Standard reported that Graziano has been charged with nine counts of first-degree attempted murder, one count of first-degree bias intimidation, and one count of first-degree aggravated arson in the Rutherford case, and faces charges of first-degree aggravated arson, first-degree bias intimidation, and third-degree arson for the Congregation K’hal Adath Jeshurun in Paramus. If found guilty, Graziano could face between 40 and 80 years in prison, according to Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.

December 26 – 2010 – KANO, Nigeria – 42 people were killed during a series of attacks Christmas Day in Nigeria that included the bombing of a Catholic church outside the country’s capital Abuja. A Boko Haram spokesman using the nom de guerre Abul-Qaqa claimed responsibility for the attacks. Boko Haram’s targets have included both Muslims and Christians. However, the group has begun specifically targeting Christians after promising it will kill any Christians living in Nigeria’s predominantly Muslim north. That has further inflamed religious and ethnic tensions in Nigeria, which has seen ethnic violence kill thousands in recent years. Associated Press writer Ibrahim Garba contributed to this report.
