Rodney Pires, President & CEO of Watchman Security and Safety Consulting Ministries and Church Security 360 Degrees, LLC has extensive experience in providing security and OSHA Life Safety Evaluation Audit consulting services throughout North America. As an international security expert, he is known and respected within the security and loss prevention profession and industry as a leader and innovator, and his demeanor, thoroughness and professionalism project integrity and experience. His more than thirty-five years of experience within the security industry and profession conveys a unique level of qualification as a security expert.
Through the United States Marine Corps, Rod worked in conjunction with the Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, providing security to United States Embassies and U.S. Consulates throughout the world. Rod has served with DOSS/MSG at following U.S. Embassies: U.S. Embassy, Maputo, Mozambique; U.S. Embassy, Harare, Zimbabwe, U.S. Embassy, London, England; United States Mission, Geneva, Switzerland; United States Interest Section, Havana, Cuba; U.S. Embassy, Manila, Philippines; and the U.S. Embassy, Seoul, Korea. Rod has served on Personal Protection Details for the Secretary of State and President of the United States. Rod has provided security for United States Delegations and Agencies such as the United States Arms Control & Disarmament Agency, which resulted in the 1991 historic signing of the Strategic Arms & Reduction Treaty between President Bush and President Gorbachev, The World Trade Organization (WTO), Nuclear Nonproliferation Agency, U.S. Delegation for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, The World Health Organization and numerous other high level government agencies. Rod served as the Senior Instructor Adviser to the United States Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DOSS), Marine Security Guard School (MSG), responsible for the selection, training and supervision of United States Marines Security Guards serving with DOSS in providing internal security protection for embassies and consulates throughout the world. While serving with the United States Interest Section in Havana, Cuba, Rod led a team of five United States Marine Security Guards in the protection of the U.S. Interest Section while over 3 million Cubans protested outside the U.S. Interest Section for four days in protest of the United States military invasion of Panama. While serving with the DOSS/MSG, Rod attended and received some of the finest military and government training in the world.
Upon retirement from government service, Rod was hired as the Director of Corporate Security and Crisis Management for Winthrop Management, a world class management organization overseeing the management and security of the most prestigious high-rises and resort properties in the World. Teaming up with Major General Matthew P. Caulfield, (USMC Ret.), Rod and General Caulfield were responsible for designing “The Guardian Force,” one of the nations finest proprietary and contractual security companies, providing security for such clientele as Hale & Dorr Law Firm, Shawmut Bank, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Apple Computer, Paine Webber and others. As a security expert, Rod has provided security and safety seminars and workshops to a wide range of businesses and organizations such as Harvard University, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Apple Computer Corporation, Clark County School District and countless others. Rod has appeared numerous times on national radio and television. He was responsible for 3 Regional Vice Presidents overseeing security in New York, Chicago, Illinois, Miami, Florida, Boston, MA totaling over 4.5 billion dollars.
Rod is the former Chief of Security for First Baptist Church Atlanta, and In Touch Ministry, Atlanta, and is the Founder of the Church Security Round Table Discussion. Rod has been a member of ASIS International (formerly American Society for Industrial Security) since 1993. He is a member of the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) and the National Association of Retired Chiefs of Police since 1993. He has been certified as a Security Instructor/Trainer (CST) and is certified as a Personal Protection Specialist (PPS) through Executive Protection Institute in Berryville, VA. Rod conducts the monthly highly acclaimed Church Security Round Table Meetings sponsored by Church Security 360, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia. Rod holds a Masters Degree in Criminology and is currently working towards designing an on-line educational training program for churches and various seminaries in security and safety.
