Suspect arrested in North Hollywood synagogue shooting

Police arrested a suspect Thursday in a shooting at a North Hollywood synagogue last year that left two people wounded.

Christopher Littlejohn, 37, was initially arrested by SWAT officers in a separate assault case in Beverly Hills on July 23 in which he pointed a gun at a person in a residential neighborhood, Beverly Hills Police Sgt. Shan Davis said.

Pastor Sentenced For Lying About Church Arson

A former pastor will serve three years probation for lying to federal agents who investigated an arson at the Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church in Leavenworth.

39-year old Marvin Clay of Leavenworth pleaded guilty to one count of misprision of a felony. In his plea, he admitted that when he was interviewed by federal agents investigating an Oct. 31, 2008, fire at Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church, he concealed the fact he knew co-defendant Carva Lee White had set the fire.

Clay admitted that about a week before the fire, White described how he intended to start a fire at the church. Because the church had fire insurance, White told Clay, they could profit by finding a contractor who would inflate repair bids and pay them kickbacks.

On Nov. 1, 2008, Clay told agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that he didn’t know who set the fire.

Last month, co-defendant Carva Lee White was sentenced to 150 months in federal prison.

Pastor of church at centre of sexual assault allegations arrested

TORONTO — The 55-year-old pastor of a Toronto church at the centre of allegations of gang sexual assault was arrested on separate charges Monday.

Pastor Jae-Kap Song was charged with inappropriate touching of a woman who was renting an apartment he owned and also attended this church. Police said the incident happened in February.

The pastor’s indictment comes as the church is embroiled in separate alleged sex crimes which police say involve gang rape.

The two cases are separate.

Eight former parishioners of Song’s Canada’s Jesus First Church congregation, six men and two women, are accused of child porn and administering drugs for sex.

Last week six men were arrested and charged for a series of gang sexual assaults on women and one young girl they allegedly met through the Korean community church.

Over the weekend two women were also arrested.  The men in custody were also charged with making child pornography involving the underage girl. Three other women are believed to have been violently assaulted over the past several months.

“It is a series of events that took place from fall of 2009 to February 2010.  Six men participated in gang sexual assaults against four women,” said Const. Boyd Li last week. “We believe they are (members of the church).”

Vandals target Collinsville church on Easter Sunday

Collinsville police are investigating a case of church vandalism after someone spray-painted offensive markings on the front of the Gathering Place Church in the 2000 block of Keebler Road.

Church members discovered the vandalism just hours before Easter services, which also happened to be the first services in the church’s new home. The church purchased the building from the Collinsville Jaycees last month. Since then, an army of volunteers has been working day and night getting the church ready in time for Easter Services.

In the end, the church community did celebrate Easter. But only after an hour of additional early morning clean-up work on the church’s brand new siding.
